10 Health and Wellness New Year’s Resolutions and Tips You Can Actually Attain

Are you tired of making new year’s resolutions you can’t even keep? Well then maybe you can change the way you make your goals for the upcoming year.

There is nothing wrong with dreaming big, but sometimes, they may be difficult to handle – almost impossible to achieve. Start small and start with what is attainable. Respect what your body can handle so you can achieve more.

Here are some health and wellness new year’s resolutions you can try that you can actually attain for the upcoming year.

1. Make specific objectives

Make specific objectives like “do 10 burpees every day and add manageable increments in the coming days”. Specific objectives are much easier to attain than saying “lose 10 pounds”, for instance. When you make very little progress with your big goal, you may just find it easier to quit. With smaller steps achieved, it would be easier for you to step up your game.

2. Hydrate more often

If you want to start the year right, do it by hydrating more often. This will help flush out toxins, keep your energy up, and keep your mind and body working efficiently. You will surely save yourself from more headaches, fatigue, dull skin, constipation, and other health problems. You can use a refillable water bottle and drink from there so you can keep track of how much water you drink every day.

3. Start with at least one or two exercises in your routine

If you want to start your fitness journey, it may sound nice to have a whole set of exercises for your new routine to welcome the new year. The thing is, it just might be too overwhelming to begin with. You can just start with one or two exercises to start your year and add more as your body gets more attuned to exercising.

4. Exercise more hours by listening to a podcast or an audiobook

Time sure does fly by when you are listening to (or watching) an interesting story, right? When working out, try listening to a podcast or an audiobook to help you get hooked with exercising just as you get affixed to what you are listening to.

5. Do a 10-minute daily yoga

Every day may seem like a lot, but if you make it a habit, it would be just easy as taking a bath. Take at least 10 minutes a day for deep breathing exercises, meditation, and yoga poses to stay physically and mentally healthy. You can do it on your bed in the morning upon waking up and before eating your breakfast. You may also lay down your yoga mat and do it early in the evening or before bedtime to help you relax. Just make sure you don’t do stimulating yoga poses before going to bed.

6. Make your meals more often

It can be really tempting to just order your meals or prepare ready-made dishes, especially during workdays. You know these are not as healthy as home-cooked food, right? Aside from not getting enough nutrients, most of these foods can end up making you feel tired or bloated and just not right. This upcoming year, try to make your own meals more often so you get the right nutrients you need.

7. Make healthier food choices

Speaking of meals, try to start making healthier food choices day by day. For instance, you can aim to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your meal plan, add more beans to your meals, and substitute junk food with healthier options for your snacks.

8. Start planting

If you are not into plants and gardening yet, it could make a wonderful New Year’s resolution. Whether you have a yard to plant on or you want to do container gardening, you will find yourself less stressed and happier. You also gain some Vitamin D from your sunshine exposure, as well as cleaner air in your environment. Growing your own vegetables, herbs, and fruits is even better as you are sure to consume cleaner and healthier food. They are more sustainable, too!

9. Start ditching toxic products and replace them with natural and eco-friendly substitutes

From household cleaners to what you put on your face – the products you are using could be more harmful than you think. Take one step at a time and start using natural and eco-friendly products. You can aim to use natural household cleaners; apply natural and organic beauty products; make your own natural home sprays; and use eco-friendly accessories like reusable water bottles instead of disposable plastic bottles, eco-friendly yoga mats instead of PVC mats, reusable glass food containers instead of plastic containers, and many more. Again, aim to be more specific with your resolutions to make them easily attainable.

10. Adjust your sleeping habits

Last but not the least, always try to get your much-needed sleep. There is no denying that sleep plays a very important role in keeping you physically and mentally healthy.

If you feel like you are not getting quality sleep, you might want to adjust your sleeping habits as your new year’s resolution. You may want to avoid watching TV before sleeping or avoid using your phone at least 30 minutes before hitting the bed. Your phone can make your brain more active and make it harder for you to fall asleep. You might also want to keep your phones away when you still since notifications and alerts can disturb your deep sleep. As an alternative, you can try reading a book to help you fall asleep.

Conclusion

New year’s resolutions are promises you make for yourself this upcoming year. You don’t want to cheat yourself by not keeping those promises. Just start small. Take one step at a time. Who knows you will end up achieving something big.
